على مر السنين ، ولا سيما من الستينيات فصاعدًا تمت إعادة تقييم شخصية طاهر الحداد والترحيب بها كواحدة القطع الرئيسية للحركات النسوية والنقابية والقومية في تونس. إلى حد أكبر أو أقل دراسة أعماله والتعليق عليها وترجمتها لغات مثل الإنجليزية الفرنسية الألمانية وبالتالي نشر أهم افتراضاته إلغاء تعدد الزوجات الاِختلاء. ومع ذلك الرغم هذه الدراسات لا تزال هناك بعض الثغرات بعضها مهم للغاية فيما يتعلق بسيرته الذاتية. تقدم العديد حول المؤلف تواريخ غير متسقة بيانات متضاربة. هذا ليس بالأمر التافه، فكان مؤلفًا تكون خبراته الشخصية حاسمة تأطير إنتاجه وتفسيره بشكل مناسب . لهذا السبب نعتبر أنه المثير للاهتمام مراجعة ما نعرفه عن حياة ومحاولة تجميع سيرته الذاتية بأحدث المصادر بطريقة تساعد تحليل وفهم نشاطاته الأدبية والسياسية والاجتماعية أفضل.
